New Playground

I'm pleased to be able to report that the contract has finally been let for the upgrade and additions to the playground on Gors Common. One of the attached pictures shows that there is to be what is called a' wetpour' surface under the zip wire to try to cure the waterlogging problem and I've requested too that some drainage is carried out underneath the existing trampoline. Also in the same picture is the location of the additional play equipment which is immediately alongside the fencing of the current playground on a similar soft rubber surface.  Installation of the new equipment should begin on the 1st November.
Whilst the first photo names the new equipment, the second photo gives an idea of the type of things that are going to be on offer.  I hope you'll agree that this will give the playground a very positive uplift.

In order to deter vandalism, I'm arranging for CCTV cameras to be installed.  It's a sad reflection of our times that these are going into other similar locations across Swansea.  Please note too, that many other playgrounds are also being upgraded which should mean that ours on Gors Common won't continue to be the attraction it has been to a very wide area.

In the autumn too some tree planting will be taking place in the very boggy area towards the shop.  This is to try to soak up some of the standing surface water.

I'll provide more information as I receive it and give a full update in my next newsletter.
